Default Brake Booster on 96 4wd-single diaphram issue

My '96 4WD 4-door Blazer LT has a single-diaphram brake booster that makes quick/hard stopping difficult. All the dealers and techs say it's due to the single-diaphram brake booster Chevy used on this year/model Blazer; the later models have a double-diaphram (more powerful!) brake booster. Is there any help or advice how I can improve or replace this vacuum brake booster I have to something more powerful? Any advice would be appreciated!
