broken pinion gear in rear diff

Hi all. I just got this truck back after a long ordeal with a repair shop, and here is what they didn't fix. BTW it's a 1985 s-10 blazer 4x4 v6.

Here's my differential case with the cover removed. The big pin you see that is all gouged up is not holding my passenger side axle on, and the lockbolt that holds it in place is missing.

Here's two pics of the broken teeth in the pinion gear. I found some big chunks in the bottom of the housing.

Here's the inside of the cover. I'm not sure what caused the big gouge, but it looks to be in line with either the big ring gear or the pin that keeps falling out.
Can I just replace this gear assembly inside the housing, or do I need a whole new rear end?
EDIT: Heres the pics. Dunno why I can't get them to display... http://img259.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=p1070376.jpg

That does not look good. Things do not look right on the carrier either. #1 you should have a cross bolt that holds the cross shaft in place. Also, something does not look right with the G80 lock latch and spring. Things look like they are slid to the driver side too far.
You could likely rebuild what you have if you know how to set it up and have the proper tools, but you really will not know if the G80 is ok until after you get it out and checked over.
I'm not sure where your pictures went though...

From what I read "no pic's" Swartlkk sounds right on. I can tell you this if you don't know what your doing I would take it to someone that dose if you mess it up you will wish to God that you took it to someone because now it will cost you more "I know" I leaned the heard way .Good luck

Well, I've decided to buy a new rear end with the same gear ratio, and pull the pinion and the differential internals from it and install them in my existing housing. Should I also replace my rear U-Joint, axle shafts, bearings, or anything else? I'm going to remove all the internals from the rear housing tomorrow, disconnect the driveshaft, and remove the pinion.
Anything I need to know before starting this operation?
Also there is a gallery of photos relating to this project here.
