Default Do I have a bad CV joint?

OK guys i've been around cars and trucks since I was young but I don't know my way around 4 wheel drive too much. Since it's summer I never put my 2001 chevrolet blazer LS 4x4 in 4 wheel drive. but when i drive very slowly like 1-5 miles per hour i can hear a rubbing coming from up front. I just replaced the brakes all around I know it's not the brakes but that's almost what it sounds like an old brake pad rubbing against a rusty rotor. I think this may be my CV joint but I don't know. Also from a stop if i step on the gas probably 1/2 way to the floor maybe 3/4 it makes a really loud clunk from the front end as well. The guy that owned the car before me cranked up the torsion bars so it sits higher in the front then in the back. it looks cool but input on what to do would be helpful! thanks guys!

The CV joint on the drive shaft is constantly turning when you drive, and eventually they go bad just like everything else. I agree with you that it's most likely the CV joint. It's not common but they do occasionally break or go bad. When my CV joint went bad it made loud clicks and clunks all the time and I lost about 5mpg. The t-bar lift would only negatively effect ride quality, ball joints, and CV axles. Have someone slowly drive in forward and reverse while you crouch close to your blazer and listen for where the sound is coming from. - At least that's how I figured out what the problem was.

if your cv joint is completely broken it'll make some nasty noises. you can also grab the bar in the middle of the boots and try and wiggle it around if it moves at all your bearings in the cv are shot. also if there is a hole in your boot you'll see grease everywhere.
