Default font end noise

My 97 blazer sometimes makes a god awful noise that seems to be coming from the front passenger side. The noise speeds up and slows down with road speed, although when youre on the gas you cant hear it, mostly ony when coasting. After it starts it continues until you come to a complete stop and when you start again its gone. When I park after a noise episode I can smell rubber. Ive had the tires off and dont see any wear on them. Any ideas?

If your vehicle is a 4wd with a 3 button system, I would check the transfer case vacuum switch. The ball will stick and cause the front axle to engage.

The 3-button system == NV233 transfer case. Check out the Tech Article (DIY) section and/or search for 'NV233+vacuum+switch'.
