Default awd to 2wd

i have a 1996 4dr blazer awd the front diff toasted. i don't have money to fix right now. so i removed the front diff , halfshafts and the drive shaft to the transfer case. will the trasfer case be alright with no front driveshaft and do i need to leave the front part of the halfshaft in the hub to keep the bearings tight.

If it was a true AWD truck (ie not selectable 4wd), then no, your transfer case will not be good without the front drivetrain. It is a viscous coupling transfer case which sends ~30/70 torque split front/rear.

And you should leave the stub shafts in the front bearings to keep things proper in that regard.
