Quick question, just wanted to know if you have to remove the front. diff to put a new gear in?

 

I would imagine so. If nothing else its probably easier to do with it out than just by exposing one half of it.

 

ya you would have to im putting a new one in right now and it opens side to side so you really couldnt take it apart with out taking it out.

 

You must remove the front axle to swap gears. The front diff splits in half, side to side unlike rear axles or solid front axles where you can pull the center section out from the back (or like a ford 9" pull the entire ring/pinion center section out).

Hey miller would you be able to snap a few pics real quick when the front diff is dissasembled? I'd like to see what im getting my self into when I upgrade to 4.10 gears.

 

Will do. I'm also installing a 4.10 for now since I won't be able to get the SFA done by winter and I wanna still have 4x4 for the snow. Should be doing the swap in about 2weeks.
