Hi, I have a '98 Blazer S-10 with 165000 miles on it and knowing that at that kind of mileage in this truck things are bound to go wrong. Right now the main problem is almost like a humming noise coming from the front drivers side area but only at speeds of 30mph and less.
I looked around by the wheel and noticed that something is rubbing on the outer edge of the rim and is eating away at my wheel weight. Both the inner and outer edges of the tire is starting to crack. Any suggestions on what this might be?
thanks

turn your wheels to full lock and see if they are hiting anything. Does it only hum when your wheels are turned or all the timne?

Well its all the time and it cant be the wheel bearings because i just changed the hub asem. a couple months ago. I looked under there and it looks like the bushings for the sway bar are out of place would that have something to do with it? Also i dont think that the shocks have ever been replaced.

check for clearance on the ball joints. Apparently the idiot...I mean...previous owner of my truck put a 2wd ball joint on my truck and the grease fitting on it was rubbing against the rim. Just a thought.

the noise could also be comeing fron a bad cv shaft. check the boots on your cvs and see if the have any cracks or tears in them.
