Default life of shocks

Just have a question about the life of shocks. My truck has 157k miles on it whats the chances that the shocks are past their prime and should be changed? I know the back ones are bad but should the front be gone too or soon behind?

Bounce your vehicle at each corner. If it stops bouncing almost immediately, the shocks are still good. If it keeps going for a little bit then they need to be replaced. I've got 188K on my original shocks and I see no reason to replace them as of yet.

As long as they aren't leaking and do the job there is no need to replace them.

The only thing with mine is that it seems like when you hit a bump it almost seems like the front wheels come off the ground and bounce around a bit. I know its probbly an exaggeration about the wheels coming off the ground but thats the way it seems. I know the back ones are bad like i said before bc of the thumping ging over bumps

My test method is to push down on each corner 3 times and release on the downpush. If the corner comes up, go back down, and back up more than once (1 rebound cycle), replace the shock.
