Manual Transfercase Swap(4x4)
4x4 on my 2001 blazer has been working on/off for the past year. Getting fed up with its unreliability, and wanting to switch to a manual 4x4 system. Read on some forum that you can take the transfer case out of an earlier 1990's blazer and it will fit with modifications. i Believe the transfer case that you can swap in is the NP231. Just wondering if anyone has done the swap and what issues came about.

There was a write up on here, I believe, or maybe one of the S-10 sites, where a guy converted his electrically shifted transfer case to manual. Basically, he cut a hole in the floor board, bolted two wrenches together for the shift lever, and put it on the t-case. There's only three positions on the t-case, so i think all the way forward was 4-lo, one click back was 4-hi, and all the way back was 2-hi. Kinda ghetto rigged, but it seemed to work.
I've wondered myself about finding a manually shifted t-case blazer and taking everything, linkage, etc and converting mine over.

Anything can be accomplished with enough time, money and thought take a good look at my avatar - 4x4 rx7 - more GMC Jimmy than mazda - and you don't have to getto rig - she's not
