Default Over-filled power steering fluid...

I was a little low on power steering fluid- just enough so that it squealed a little bit. I had to put more in it, but it was dark by the time I got it, and I can't do it in the morning, so I had to go out and put it in there in the dark. Nobody would help me with anything, so I ended up overflowing the thing. Is this bad? Should I get a turkey baster and suck it out?

I would break out the baster (clean, of course).

i have done the same thing before....to much fluid , U can just pull out your air box throw a drain pan under the truck next to the driver front wheel, TAKE A 1/4 SOCKET loosen up the clamp and pull the rubber hose off the power steering pump, and let it drain that way you start with all fresh fluid, your p/ steering capacity is about a pint just hook the hose back up and pour it in you should be right on the mark. hope that helps brother

i dont know if itll actually hurt anything but will probably make a mess. ive known people with leaking pumps that would just fill it all the way to thetop... or maybe thats why it was leaking in the first place

yea when i did my overfilled it made my steering feel very tight, like the pump was bad... i also think if its left alone for to long i could see it making to much pressure which could possibly case the seal to blow and then you gottas pull the bracket off change the pump with a pulley puller& installer so much of a pain in the @$$ for such a simple fix, plus the pump are roughly 75 bucks

I haven't took anything out yet, but so far, no problem. It's still squealing- barely enough to hear it.
