A gear puller can be used to relieve the torsion bar tension. If you look at the torsion bar adjusting arm you will see a small dimple in it. Put the end of the puller's center bolt in the dimple, and hook the fingers of the puller to the flange on each side of the crossmember. Tighten the puller until tension is removed from the torsion bar adjusting nut. Remove the adjusting nut, but before you do mark it so you can apply the same amount of tension when you reinstall it. Also, mark the torsion bar/LCA relationship so the torsion bar goes back in the same way. After the adjusting nut is removed, remove the puller, slide the torsion bar forward until it clears the crossmember, then remove the torsion bar adjusting arm. Use two hands (one on the torsion bar/one on the torsion bar adjusting arm) so the adjusting arm doesn't fall and land on you.
