Default Pinion seal

I recently purchased a 2000 LS with a GU6 diff. The pinion seal needs to be replaced and I have no idea which deal to get after looking at Rock Auto's website. Does anyone know which seal to get? The site differentiates the seals by the size of the ring gear, I don't plan to pull that to measure it.

You need the one for the 7.5/7.6" ring gear.

get a crush sleeve if possible too, monkeying with the original sleeve is going to be more time then its worth.

The only problem with replacing the crush sleeve is that you have to pull the carrier out to set the pinion bearing preload.

As long as you don't overtorque the pinion nut when you put it back on, you're not going to crush the sleeve any farther, so it shouldn't affect pinion bearing preload.

This above! Torque the pinion Nut to around 175 ft.lb and you'll be golden (tight enough). Should take >300 to crush the sleeve any more than it is.

ps don't try to beat the pinion yoke off - use a puller.
