Pinion seal
I recently purchased a 2000 LS with a GU6 diff. The pinion seal needs to be replaced and I have no idea which deal to get after looking at Rock Auto's website. Does anyone know which seal to get? The site differentiates the seals by the size of the ring gear, I don't plan to pull that to measure it.
As long as you don't overtorque the pinion nut when you put it back on, you're not going to crush the sleeve any farther, so it shouldn't affect pinion bearing preload.
The only problem with replacing the crush sleeve is that you have to pull the carrier out to set the pinion bearing preload.

ps don't try to beat the pinion yoke off - use a puller.
