"It would seem you have to be very careful when install new PS pumps and make sure they are perfectly straight!"
Yes. That goes for any gear or pulley. I once put gearbelt pullleys in a 78 Plymouth 440 cop car and got the alternator out of alignment and could start the engine and watch ut feed the belt off and throw it at me! It shredded the belts...
And PS on PS leaks...New hoses and tightening them to stop the leaks made a huge difference in how the PS system works in my 78 Blazer. Steers more easily!

To close up the thread here, I got the ZQ8 box for around $50 bucks at a junkyard and it looked to be in immaculate condition. I put the box in and started to bleed the system but it was extremely hard for some reason. The pitman shaft seal on the box was bad and it was spraying fluid all over the ground. I took it out and replaced the shaft seals. After reinstalling and getting a proper alignment I can say that the box is a whole lot better then the original. I thank everyone here for the assistance on this project and wish everyone a wonderful rest of the year.
