Recommended Shocks for an '02 S10 4WD?
Hey all,
The suspension on my 2-Door 4WD S10 has been feeling rougher and rougher in the past few weeks, so I'm thinking its time to swap out the shocks.
I don't do serious off roading, so I'm looking for something for good highway comfort. Any recommendations? I'm looking to budget about $200 for all 4.
Note: I'm also planning to take it in for a wheel alignment to resolve some mild shimmy behavior at highway speeds. I want to get new shocks in before the wheel alignment so I don't have to worry about them later. I haven't replaced the shocks since owning the vehicle. I just had the tires rotated and balanced last week and the shimmy still persists, which is why I think it's due for an alignment.

I would suggest checking the RPO codes on the sticker in the glove compartment to see just what suspension you have. One of the many VIN decoder websites can do this too. When I did this I was surprised to find I have some special, self-contained, self-leveling shocks in the back that are paired with specific springs. This means that regular shocks could not be used as replacements.
