If you disconnect and plug the vacuum line to the actuator for the front driveshaft, this should at least disengage the front axle. To get the transfer case out of 4wd, you would need to diagnose the problems that is having. The DIY article that lastcoupe wrote will help you to pull the codes if you have a non-auto4wd transfercase which I believe is what you have.

thanks. i am happy that there are peopel here that are so helpful. this is much nicer.

and does swartlkk mean to just un plug the vacuum hose to the actuator do disengage the front axel?

Yes, I mean to disconnect the vacuum line and plug it. Forgot to put vacuum line in my previous post. I have fixed it.
