Tcase front output shaft options?

So, I've got the front out put and front driveshaft from a 98 Durango. It had a 231D HD case in it, with the wide chain. It already had a double cardon front driveshaft, I'm gonna see if a shop can get it to work in the Blazer.
Figured if it can stand up to a 5.7L hemi, my 4.3L shouldn't be able to hurt it!

Figured it might be beneficial to show a comparison of the two output shafts
The stock gm shaft is on the left, the Dodge fixed output shaft on the right.
Our stock shafts are slip yokes. A fixed output yoke, with the slip coupling in the driveshaft itself is a much better setup for lifted trucks.
I'll eventually be converting the rear output to fixed, as well.

I know that a CV unit as in the front axles are a roller ball and cup/cage design and thu out the years I have seen a few more or less like them in drive shafts - but in the old school terms that I was taught your double Cardan joint is usually what I see and think of as a CV unit in a drive line.

Odat, you are correct. I've seen double cardan joints referred to as CV joints quite a bit online.
But our stock driveshafts have an actual CV joint, with ***** and a cage, so the waters get muddied quickly!

So, the case is all back together! I'm gonna let the sealant set up for a little bit, and fill it while it's still out, so I can leak check it.
Once I'm satisfied it's not leaking, I'll get it stabbed in, and actually get to see if the Durango driveshaft will work without modification!

Tcase isn't fully in yet, but it looks like the Durango front shaft will fit perfectly!
Looks like a front SYE and driveshaft upgrade for our trucks can be had for <$60 at a junk yard! (plus bearings/seals, rtv, pretzels and beer, etc)

OK so it is confirmed! A 1998 5.9L Dodge Durango driveshaft will fit perfectly into a second gen Blazer! After converting the front output shaft to one from the same Durango (as long as the tcase chain widths are the same)
I'm gonna replace the ujoints, and have it balanced, since I plan on doing the bravada axle shaft mod soon, and then it'll be spinning all the time

Mine is a 95. 233C (3 button switch). From my research, all blazers through 1997 had the wide (1.25") chain, so this swap should work. 98+ has the narrow (1") chain, and jeep XJ output shafts and yokes should work. Don't know about those driveshafts
