So, I've got the front out put and front driveshaft from a 98 Durango. It had a 231D HD case in it, with the wide chain. It already had a double cardon front driveshaft, I'm gonna see if a shop can get it to work in the Blazer.
Figured if it can stand up to a 5.7L hemi, my 4.3L shouldn't be able to hurt it!
I know that a CV unit as in the front axles are a roller ball and cup/cage design and thu out the years I have seen a few more or less like them in drive shafts - but in the old school terms that I was taught your double Cardan joint is usually what I see and think of as a CV unit in a drive line.
OK so it is confirmed! A 1998 5.9L Dodge Durango driveshaft will fit perfectly into a second gen Blazer! After converting the front output shaft to one from the same Durango (as long as the tcase chain widths are the same)
I'm gonna replace the ujoints, and have it balanced, since I plan on doing the bravada axle shaft mod soon, and then it'll be spinning all the time
Mine is a 95. 233C (3 button switch). From my research, all blazers through 1997 had the wide (1.25") chain, so this swap should work. 98+ has the narrow (1") chain, and jeep XJ output shafts and yokes should work. Don't know about those driveshafts
