Today....lower control arm bushings

I'm having a heck of time getting the bushings out of the control arm. I've heard that some are welded in. This may be the case with mine.

I knocked both end caps off with an air chisel(hammer and chisel will work), cut the rubber bushing off on the outside, tighten the center sleevve in a vice and twist the control arm untill it comes free and wiggle it back and forth to get it out(I used the ball joint press for this... Remove the rubber bushing, then with a hammer and chissel I 'collapse' the outside sleeve and it fell right out

Yep. There's a reason it takes a heavy-duty c-clamp to get them out. They are supposed to be tight. It'll take some doing but I doubt yours are welded in. What year is it?

It's a 97. Thanks for all the advise. This forum came in handy. I dropped the control arms off at a local shop and had them remove the old and install the new bushings. It cost me what they charge for an hour of labor, even though I don't think it took but 30 mins. But $57 later, I didn't have to worry about damaging anything. I finished the job today, replaced all bushings, the halfshaft, ball joints. Learned a lot....might do it again someday. For now...I'm taking a break.

I've done front suspension work on a 2001, my sujestion is if it's not broken don't tamper with it. These 4WD drive modles are tempermental when it comes to re-aglinment.

If you believe that you're a good enough to do it, make sure the orientation is scribed and just not marked with a pencil. That was my bigest mistake and it has never rode the same since.

Which leads me to my question; does anyone have a photo of factory set upper control arm cams?

I also found that if you just torch the bushings and punch them out, is easier than struggling with a c-clamp or a vice.

Can any one give me the part no or a picture of what the Pitman arm should look like for a 99 Blazer 4wd,RHD as in Japan and New Zealand, as they are different to the LHD ones.

The problem with that is that you can warp or damage the control arm while torching it. I had it happen when I had it done (at a shop no less) for an older dodge van. And That was a beefier control arm. But it was rendered useless from the torching.
