Tranny wont shift to park!

like i said if you raise the lever to put it in park it will go to neutral, then to reverse, then the lever just seems to go neutral where it should be in park. i checked the lever and cable it must be something from the external shift lever on the outside of the tranny..on in any suggestions please.........
one other thing.... if you get under it and push the lever manually it will go into park ....please help?

one other thing.... if you get under it and push the lever manually it will go into park ....please help?

my 1992 s10 blazer had this problem and i took it to the trans shop and they said there was a problem with the linkage.
