Will a 8.5 ring and pinion fit in a 7.625 axle housing

I’m real familiar with it just on a much bigger scale

I don't think the housing will accept the larger gears.

8.5 ring and pinion will not fit in a 7.625 housing. Just go to a pick n pull junkyard and get a complete rear out of another 2000 Blazer (non ZR2). LKQ sells them for $100 exchange.
