Measured effect of upsizing tires
This article from Hagerty has data on changes to mileage etc. when installing larger tires. I thought people might find it interesting.

The only problem I have with the article is the rpm difference between sizes. Simple math tells you that a bigger tire will turn less rpm's over a distance. This also means you will have less torque to the road, hence the slower times in the 0-60. I do agree the drive train has to work harder to turn larger tires, thus the less mpg's. To be honest, I wasn't impressed with the article.
My experience going from 31's to 33's was less power to the ground, mpg's suffered, but off road was a non-issue, especially in 4lo. Handling on road suffered quite a bit, from handling to power. I dropped down to 32's and life has been much better. If I ever go up to 33's again, doubtful, I'll regear to 4.11 gears. I'll lose mpg's I'm sure, but the power will be better.
