rim and tire size
I currently run 31x10.5 tires on 15" rims. 03 4x4 blazer. I like the hieght. but dont like how it performs on snow and ice. balloon tire. I think i have to go to a 17 or 18 inch rim. and a stock size tire. 275x 17 or 18. did anyone go through this. did it work?.
I run 31x 10.5x 15. I dont get any traction on ice and snow. I think it is because these are flotation tires. to much side wall and to much footprint.
I should have said that i dont want to loose any height. does anybody run a 235/70 /17 or 18.?

In my opinion, you just have to try different tires. Not all snow is the same. Up here, where I live, Vancouver Island, Canada, our snow is wet and compact. In other places, snow can be light and fluffy, so to pick a tire that is good in snow, well, you will just have to experiment. I am just in the process of purchasing tires and I do want a mud and snow tire and compared two choices. One was the BFG All Terrain, and the other is the Good Year Wrangler Dura Tracs. I personally like the looks of the Good Years and have been told by many that they are a very good tire, so that is going to be my choice. Good luck.
bfg all terrains dont work well with light weight rigs. i have them on my 4wd toyota in a 32" size and i hate them. goodyears are a way better way to go. even the yokohama geolanders are a great tire overall. good for any season and terrain plus great milage. and u could go with a 31x9.5 in those and not lose heighth but get a thinner footprint, if thats what u want.
