Question Fuel Gauge pissin me off...

I know the story behind fluctuating fuel gauges in GMs. I have a 96 sierra thats all over the map. Just picked up this 88 S10 Blazer, and the gauge only reads between just under 1/2 and around 1/8. Never reads over 1/2. Even then I know its not accurate, because when it was showing an 1/8 tank I filled up for $40. Is this a sign that the sending units going? Loose ground somewhere? Or gauge just buggered? any input would be great.

thanks

Unplug the conector by the rear bumber for the fuel gauge. With the key on and engine off the gauge should read full. If not then you either have a faulty Gauge or a path to ground. If it does read full then you most likely have a faulty sending unit.
