What is normal oil level?
hello,
i just purchased a 1994 blazer 4x4 a few days ago. I have never owned a a chevy before so im still getting used to everything.
My questions is:
what is considered normal oil level? is it at 40 or 80?
also when i step on the gas my oil gauge rises up, but when i slow down the gauge drops down. is that normal?
thanks for your help.

the pressure going up and down with increase of rpm is perfectly normal. and what do you mean by oil level at 40 or 80? are you talking about the numbers on your oil gauge? If so that would be your oil pressure, and 20 at idle is alright and when you step on the gas it should be in between 40 and 80

these engines only need 6 psi per 1000 rpm at bare minimum. Idealy if its above 20 at idle, and around 40 cruising your fine. Mine has over 200k miles and im still at 40 psi at idle.
and yes it will move when you drive etc.

Oh don't you worry, if it's a 94 vortec engine you will be learing lots about it. Mainly how to take the plenum off and replace the spider injector. It's only a matter of time And use a torque wrench when you put the plenum back on. And your ball joints and tie rods are probably in need of replacement unless the previous owner did it for you.
