Default 60/40 seat/blinker noise

I PURCHASED A 98 S10 4DR BLAZER WITHOUT AN OWNERS MANUAL. THE BACK SEAT IS A 60/40 SPLIT. I CAN'T GET THE 60 SIDE TO LET DOWN. ALSO, THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH THAT SOUNDS LIKE THE SIGNAL LIGHTS ARE ON BUT THEY'RE NOT. IT STOPS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED AND DOESN'T AFFECT THE TURN SIGNALS OR EMERGENCY FLASHERS. CAN ANYONE OUT THERE HELP?

BUMP!!!

As of last week, my 2000 LS started giving me the same Blinker noise... It sounds like a short somewhere in the hazard circuit as the the clicking stops once I press the brakes. Nothing else is affected. The lights (hazards and turn signals) all work like they should.

Also, a friend of mine that owns a late 90's S10 Blazer is having the same problem.

It's driving me nuts! [sm=headbang.gif] Please help.

Thanks
D

I've been having the same problem with the "blinking" noise. Fortunately, I saw what happened just before it started.... At about 54,000 miles I had a little white puff of smoke come out of the steering column when sitting at a light. The noise started just after. It is now a constant blinker click. All signals still work as they should. I took apart the steering column, and removed the multifunction switch to find that some of the contacts in the switch had been fried (ie. smoke).

You can buy the part online for about $175 or so, but it's a pain to get in and out....a huge wiring harness goes along with it. I'm having the dealer take care of it for me.....along with about 7 other problems.

I have the same problem with my 98 blazer. I was thinking that there has to be a wire we can just cut to stop the clicking noise and not effect the actual function of the turn signals and flashers. Does anyone know where I can find the wiring diagram for the turn signals? I don't know about you guys but i could care less if my turn signals dont make noise when they are on.

Default RE: blinker noise! Part number

Since this original post is fairly old I will post this for those who are still looking for or have just started looking for an answer.

My 80 year old mother has a 2000 LS Blazer (90,000+ miles) that developed the same irritating flasher relay noise. She also has the Blazer wired to tow trailers and to be towed behind her motor home so that the Blazer rear signals operate with the motorhome's.

At one point the signals stopped working properly and they presumed it was just a fuse, but more problems persisted. With all the possible wiring problems, it came down to a blown fuse that caused a short that had caused the steering column module to malfunction. A lot of time and a few different shops could not isolate the inital cause of the short. It was expensive trying to chase down that wire and would have been much cheaper in the long run just to replace the module since it needs to be replaced to correct the flasher problem. New module and everything is back to normal.

Part number 26100837 (also the designation 70115 CCRT)
Dealer price 195.02
Labor about 105.00 (less than 2 hours)

For those that are searching I hope this helps

Bummer, I was hoping this wasn't going to be any major repair situation. Anything I cannot do myself is major I guess. Anyone else have this problem and it was fixed easier or with less cost?

Would checking and replacing a fuse do the trick, or what was mentioned earlier about the "clicking noise wire" just getting cut?

Thanks again!
