Leaf Springs
Just wondering if anybody would have an idea about how much the truck will drop if you turn the leaf springs upside down. i know its not something anyone would recommend, but im just seeing if anyone knows how much it would lower the back of the truck. i have a 2000 Blazer LS 2WD 4DR. thanks.

This is just a guess but I would think maximum would be the width of the spring mount. To get a closer guess measure the distance of the spring mount from top to bottom and then that would give you the maximum possible. A lot would depend on how much give the spring has when it is "flipped". You will have to disassemble the spring pack to do this... from what I heard this is an old hotrodders trick from the 40's/50's...

I also have a 2000 2wd 4door.
Don't flip them.
It will save you a lot of trouble to buy a lowering kit. Youll be able to lower the front and back. There are kits that lower in different ways, but the one JCW has for the rear works quite well. It repaces the shackles with shorter ones and can lower it up to five inches.

Well, i want to lower it about 4inches all around. i can really afford to get an expensive kit so im just trying to think of a cheap way to do it but i also want it to be safe. i was thinking about getting new coil springs for the front and blocks for the leaf springs but i cant find any that lower it 4 inches. and im not doing it on a lift so it cant be too difficult of a way either. i might just look for new leaf springs that are 4 inches lower along with the coil springs.

You also need to consider your shocks at least the fronts if you cut the coils you are shortening the travel that the shocks have to handle. Also when you cut coils they become stiffer.
Best to use drop spindles and blocks. Generally blocks can handle up to 4in if they are machined correctly all you have to do is rotate them to the side that handles a 4in drop...I had a set for my 86 Nissan P/U with rear leafs. This would be the least expensive part of the drop...
