Leaf Springs

Well I beleive that both of my rear leaf springs (driver side is the worst) are about hit. Though I can't really say for sure since I've never had any problems with leafs in the past. Here's the deal, I am starting to notice a change in the handling of the blazer (definatly not the sway bar) I also notice the lean that it has (1/2" difference in the rear, roughly a 1/4" in the front) I take a peek at my leafs and they look a little, well let's say abnormal. The drivers side actually straightened out (lost the arc bending the other way) near the rear shackle and both sides have space between the leafs (never seen this before in any other vehicle I've looked at) Here is a pic I found in another post (unrelated). Basically my leafs look nothing like it. None of my leafs actually stick with the consistant arc they all have little kinks in the and space between them.

Just curious as to what you guys think. Thanks

I'm betting that if you take the shackles off, you'll find some broken leafs. They should have an arch to them. If they don't, they're shot.

Thanks for the input. They do have arc still just not consistant arc. They just looked, well, messed up. I'll take it down to the garage tomorrow see if I can put it on the lift and pull them. Anyone know what 2 new spring packs run?

Well... Replacements from the dealer should be under PN 15153861 and GMPartsDirect.com has them listed at $216 and some change. Didn't do any other searching...
That PN shows as being the same for all 95+ Blazers, Jimmys & Bravadas... So you may be able to find a low mileage set in a junkyard somewhere.

check your torsion bar as well. I have the sag on the passanger side like your stating. And my rear leafs are about shot and my passanger side torsion bar is defiantely shot.

That was the first thought that came to my mind about the sag though because there is more in the rear and the springs look like hell I'm figuring that the rear driver side sagging is causing a small amount in the front as well. Thous it is likly that the t-bar is sagging as well seing as how there is always a driver in it and the gas tank is also on that side. Has 112K on it so it wouldn't suprise me. Though if this is the case I will give that side a turn or 2 and lift it back up to level here out then go get an aliginment

It sucks that is all I know I didn't know much about my blazer til I found the forum. Then I learn about the t-bars cause I though it was just my leafs. Til I purchased helper springs. That helped for a bit then it went right back to sagging. Then I seen the part about cranking the torsion bars did that took it out on the trail once and it is back to sagging agian already. took the measurement and I'm at 4" drivers side and the pass. is at 3 1/2"
