Default 2001 Blazer engine options

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2001 Blazer ZR2 with a blown engine. My question is what year engines will fit my truck? I found a 2004 4.3 out of a silverado and a 2000 4.3 out of a blazer, from what i have read the 2001 has a smaller knock sensor bolt because the sensor is different and the the 2000 has a larger bolt which probably will not work for me any ideas on the 2004? and also how new of a truck can i get the engine out of? will 2007+ work?

Hey I'm having the same problem i have a 2001 blazer and replaced the engine with a 1999 engine and I'm running without the knock sensor does not affect the driving but I have a constant check engine light on and I need to do a state inspection next week.....I'm trying to find a solution for this but there's nothing online so I'll be following your post closely.. Good luck

ok.. you have a few options... you could go with a reman longblock.. that will fit no modification necessary. if you want to use the silverado engine, you will probably have to swap the oil pan, lower intake manifold, and exhaust manifolds from your original to it and you will also have to drill out the knock sensor hole and tap it to a larger size for your current knock sensor to fit.

2008+ engines aren't an option. They use a different ignition system that doesn't use a distributor and they use a different ecm as well.

The 04 4.3 should work fine as long as you swap your parts onto it(oil pan, exhaust man, int man, etc...). It comes with upgraded mpfi injectors, also, instead of the central injector and poppet nozzles.
