Don't feel too bad. The pump and spider would have needed to be replaced at some point anyway.
Dealers have alot of overhead. They need to keep guys on for the parts that are "dealer only" and there real good for stuff you needed "yesterday".
Not my first choice for every day shopping.
The bottom line is it's running.
I'm just as guilty of walking into a mechanic and telling him what needs to be changed, he changes it and my car still doesn't run, my fault.
It's a great thing that you have the ability to help your sister.

Looks like sis owes you a few bucks bud!
I'd say you prolly overpaid but you didn't get ripped off. Its the dealership for Pete sakes!
Although come to think of it...I bought my delco pump from Chevy and only paid a buck 80...=-O

Hey guys first of all thank you all for the feedback to my thread. Heres an update, I got my blazer back from the mechanic today. Ok so he replaced the fuelpump, filter, and the spider. He had the old parts out and showed them to me and yes the filter was clogged, it had buildup of some sort it looked like mud also all the inside was rusted out bad. The fuel pump was also bad he tested it out while i was there and didn't even run at all, it was also corroded badly like it was sitting at the bottom of a swamp. The old spider was fine but he replaced it anyways since i had the part and told him to do it.
On a good note the whinning stopped he replaced the rotors and brake pads, the old ones were really bad i don't even know how since i didn't even had a year with them on. One of them was bent, the mech told me that eventhough they were "Autozone's finest" they were made out of cheap metal. They overheated and started to bend and that made the brake pads grind and create the noise. He went more into detail but i didn't actually listened to him since i just wanted him to shut up so i could drive it.
Anyways also did a tune-up oil, oil filter, cleaned out my intake, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor. Flushed my rad fluid and put new one. He also replaced the pitman arms, idler arms, sway bar and the sway bar links (Old one was bent). He also diagnosed the abs and the ABS pump is bad, does anybody know where to buy it other than the dealer, the mech said its an expensive part but that will get the abs off my dash. At the end of the day all it needs now it that abs pump and an alignment, he only charged me $450 which i think it's not bad.
Hopefully now i have blazer for a while lol.
