Please help!!! I have a 1998 Blazer with a 4.3 in it and it will not start. When I turn the key at first only the battery light and the service engine soon light come on andthe rear hatch pops open. I also hear some clicking around where the fuses are. Eventually the lights will come on as well as the radio but then it will not start. Anyone heard anything like this before? Thanks!

 

I had the exact same symptoms and it was a bad battery. Have you had it tested?

I had the battery replaced probably about a year ago so I wasn't thinking it was that but I will try and jump it off or replace the battery and see what happens. Did you rear hatch pop open as soon as you turn the key as well?

 

Yep, surprised the heck out of me. My gauges would also jump, even though the key was lying on the seat beside me and there was a slight whirring sound coming from the dash.

 

Sounds exactly like a dead battery to me. Take the battery out and back to where you purchased it to test the voltage in it. Most likely, it's still under warranty and they'll give you another one.
