Hi guys first time here but I need advice and much info on a car thats for sell. Its an 99' chevy blazer 4x4 it has roll cages fog lights and its lifted as well...the guy is selling it for $800 i dont have to much info on the car but I will later on but according to him "after running a while it will start smoking out of tailpipes" a mechanic told him it can be an head gasket or bad rings. Ive done so much research that I dont know what it is but I want to know would it be worth to buy? Thanks for the help

 

sounds like rings. when heat expands tolerances change,and if the rings are worn down bad enough it'll do that.


worse case scenario,take that 800,add 2000 to it for a engine. (used running engine+ labor)

 

Depending on where you live book value could be around 2500 and if you could some or most of the work yourself, might be worth it. Any pictures?

 

Yea I stay in missouri a guy that does mechanic work told me its not worth it but it will cost me 350-450 to rebuild engine but I also dont have much money to do it so thats why I ask is it worth it but give me a minute ill upload pics

 

350-450 PLUS machine work. Ive never spent less then 1,000 on ANY engine,unless he halfasses it. stuff needs to be shaved,checked for cracks etc.

Look forward to spending 1500+ if not more on a rebuild. find you a engine for 300-500 bucks that runs. then pay someone 300 to put it in. call it done.

 

Pass - engine is probably only the beginning. Lifted causes strain on suspension and drive line parts so you could be in for alot of money spent on replacing parts. Far better to spend a bit more on a vehicle that has less problems.
