distributor 2003 blazer
Just curious i did a intake gasket on 2003 blazer and i forgot to plug the distributor wiring in and drove it for about 10 min. Never got a check engine light. Should it kicked a code?any input would be great im trying to narrow all my other issues to a bad pcm

The sensor in the distributor is the camshaft position sensor. Leaving it unplugged should have set a DTC in memory and turned the SES light on. Plugged in or not, it will not affect engine performance. After replacing the intake gaskets, and reinstalling the distributor, camshaft retard must be checked and adjusted. The adjustment aligns the cam sensor with the camshaft. If it's out of spec, it will cause crossfire inside the cap and the engine will misfire, whether you feel it or not, it's happening. It will not set a DTC in memory until it's off by more than ~26 degrees, and it may or may not set a DTC for misfire. Checkng & adjusting camshaft retard requires a scan tool capable of accessing streaming data from the camshaft position sensor. Not to be confused with ignition timing, two totally different things. What other issues are you experiencing? BTW, the PCM is nearly bulletproof and rarely fails on these vehicles.

p0446 and I tested evap circuit and vacuum lines and they check out good. The dash was haunted by the typical gauge issue and I put a cluster in it.Now the problems are slowly getting worse now I have no fuel gauge reading or odometer reading. It sometimes will unlock the doors when you put it in gear, rather than lock them. I have a misfire or it feels like one with no check engine light. I put the ac plugs in it tuned it up. This has been going on for a while and it's become my goal in life it seems but I was fixing intake and drove it with distributor unplugged and no check engine light. My gf's brother is a gm tech, and I had someone there put a lock cylinder in it after someone tossed a brick through the window and made off with the spare key.All this started after they did whatever they did to is and it was something he did on a after hours type of thing so I could not see what they did on paper but I was thinking maybe pcm got damaged when they were flashing it.I can see how it would need a bcm but it's always ran like a turd also. I was a tech at ford a while back and it's like this blazer knows and just wants to mess with me any way i appreciate the reply.
