Default Easy center console repair

Dreamed up a way to fix the center console in my son's 1999 Blazer. Bottom was cracked out near single bolt connection.

I have seen other threads about how to fix these consoles that are prone to breaking. I'm sure the other fixes work great but I wanted a quick simple fix. See attached photos too.

Purchase the following (look in fastener drawers at big box stores or hardware store):

2" diameter thin fender washer with 3/8" hole
1/4"x20 tpi bolt with small head, 1" long, with Phillips or slotted head
3/8" axle cap nut
1/4" coupling nut

1. Drill 1/4" hole in center of axle cap nut.
2. File or grind bolt head diameter so it fits down into axle nut.
3. Remove black console insert/mat.
4. You may also have to remove the console. I can't remember. Whatever it takes to complete next steps.
5. Remove existing nut from console recess.
6. Remove any plastic that may interfere with next step. I did not have to remove any.
7. Install coupling nut on existing bolt/stud protruding from floor. I think I bottomed out my nut.
8. Lay fender washer, axle nut, and bolt on console recess, and screw into the installed coupling nut.
9. Reapply the rubber console mat.

The mat does not lay perfectly flat, but I say it's close enough.

I suppose other years may have different console configurations or different bolt sizes. But u get the idea.

Happy repairing.
