go to their site and read what they do to them. not a exact quote but they say that they flow/use better parts then factory. they might use the better FPR too. i was too lazy to copy and paste their website and repost it when i wrote this reply.

Just wondering, are the new replacement FPR's that are now available not as good as those from the CSFI's? The new regulator I got came with the specialty tool for the screws that fits in a 1/4 inch socket and doesn't require all of the drilling and grinding. And at the very least it doesn't leak...yet. Are these still prone to failure??

The updated FPR's are the same FPR used in the SCFI and MFI spiders.

is there also the option to send out your original CPI spider to have it rebuilt? maybe it might be cheaper just to send mine out for a rebuild. let me know if you know who would do that, thanks

Those are some rather expensive prices for the replacement spider units. I have had to replace them in both my blazer and my S10. However I am apparently very lucky to have a local independent parts store that got me the spider units for $150 each. (2% over cost only) The individual injectors can be gotten for $60 each BTW. Obviously the markup at the large chain stores is substantial on these units.

I will be replacing the FPR in the 2000 S10 sometime this week though. This will be the second time it has been replaced. I am not looking forward to ripping it all apart once again.

Hi awe341,
can you give me the telephone number to the place that got you the rebuilt CPI unit for $150 please? also did the CPI unit you bought from them have a 96 and new fuel pressure regulator on it? my truck is a 95 and hear some rebuilders put a 96 and newer regulator on there 95 and older CPI spiders because the regulator is a better design... let me know , thanks so much

Sadly my favorite independent auto parts store closed down as the old man who ran it for the past 40+ years passed away. I don't know that it will be opening again under a new owner. If it does I will certainly let you know.
I will miss their highly competitive pricing and knowledgeable workers who could always get any part I needed no matter what it was within 12 hours.

My trucks are a 00 and an 01 respectively so the FPI swap does not apply to mine. However I do know that you can google that swap and get some very detailed information about it. It seems to be a popular way to go.
