Default fuel pressure problem?? HELP!

I have a 97 4 door blazer, AWD, that is having problems starting. Here is the deal:

When trying to start it, it turns over but it seems like there is a fuel delivery problem. It just keeps turning over without firing. Here is the weird part, if I "jump start" it by hooking it to my Jeep, it will start. However, it is not the battery in the blazer that is the problem, it is a brand Optima Red top. The charging system is fine, alternator and everything checks out OK. It seems like it just needs a little kick in the pants to get it going. Fuel filter is fairly new, its a recurring problem so I have discounted bad gas. I have run 2 bottles of SeaFoam through it and had it in the shop for the "professional" fuel system cleaning. Once it is running it runs fine, the problem is only with starting it. Also, once it has been started and run for a while, it will USUALLY restart again just fine. It just seems like it is not getting enough fuel pressure at startup.

Since I cant start it and the battery has been disconnected, I cannot get any codes from it.

Any ideas?

Hi there...

My moms 96 4dr blazer 4x4 is having (sounds like) the same problem... Instead of jump starting it she pours a small amont of gas down the throttle body and it starts right up... It has the same symtoms as yours... She has put in a new fuel pump and temp sensor in it... We have checked the battery and altinator as well and everything checks out ok...

Will try jump starting it instead of the gas to see if its exactly like yours...

The only "code" we had was for basically a bad gas cap.... Which was replaced..

I havent heard to much information back on the problem yet but I will keep you posted if I do...

I had the same problem with my 96 2 door blazer. At first I thought it was the fuel filter so I changed it and found it was bad but it still did it. I took it to my mechanic and he thought it was a loose wire because it was gettin fuel but once he ran the computer it turned out I needed a fuel pump and it cost about $400.

Inject propane into the air filter on the first start of the day. If it starts immediately then fuel pump needs replacing.
