How do you remove the fuel pump out of the tank?

Mine just had a large ring around the top you know one with the split in it. I used just 2 screw drivers to wedge it off It was'nt hard at all but I took mine al the way out that's probably why.

On mine it was nice and easy with only lowering it 5-6 in. I just couldn't see how it came off.
