hub/bearing question
#11
Hubs in the front only.
The wheel bearings in the back are dependent on ring gear size. ZR2's and a few select 5spd 2drs got the 8.5" ring gear. All others are the 7.625" ring gear.
For the rear wheel bearings, after you remove the wheels and brakes, you need to pop the diff cover off, remove the cross shaft in the differential and then remove the c-clips. The axles will then be able to be pulled from the vehicle giving you access to the wheel bearings..

Oddly enough every auto parts store that I have called here in Washington is trying to tell me that they don't have the 7.625" and that they are certain it is an 8.5" ring gear. I have a 1997 LS S10 and want to take care of this myself, bu they want me to take it apart and bring it in which is near impossible as my Blazer is my only vehicle, so i wouldn't be able to drive it to the store, or hope that somebody can give me an easier answer? All parts on this ride are stock as nothing has been modified.

I thought it was pretty clear in my explanation that you quoted. Unless you have a ZR2 or a manual trans 4x4, you have the 7.625" rear end.
If that does not suffice, then do some research and identify it yourself... It is quite easy to tell them apart.
