Most Common Issues with 2002 Blazer?
#12
Have had my '02 LS for over 15 yrs now, have had to replace the fuel pump, door hinge pins, everything else that I have replaced were for preventive, not failure. I have replaced all of the steering components over the years with the exception of the steering link as it is not available. Also replaced upper control arm, lower ball joints, spark plugs, distributor, plug wires, rotor caps, brakes, calipers, replaced U joints, half shafts, front bearings, shocks, and am on my third radiator. Mine had an oil leak, found the front two oil pan bolts missing, but that was not the oil leak source. The main oil leak was the oil filter adapter for the remote oil filter. The oil lines on mine were not leaking at all, but I replaced them anyways. I found the leak to be between the oil pan and block where a good amount of RTV is used. I replaced that but apparently, I did not use enough RTV in the front cover to oil pan joint, so I get to do it again.
The BEST thing about the Blazer is it is super reliable! Does not matter what the temperature is outside, turn the ignition key and engine catches within a second...every time!
Get it....you will not be disappointed.

As for age, I don't know but 10 to 15 years is not uncommon to hear ofhearm failing.
The issue with the LIMs is that they leak into the liftet valley with no obvious indication that they are failing. Worse, they can fail all at once with no warning and ruin your engine in a few moments as the coolant mixes with the oil and is pumped through the engine.
two hints for doing the repair: temporarily install studs in the LIM bolt holes to help guide the LIM into place and use good RTV on the front and back walls to the lifter valley.
