Default O2 sensor removal...

I'm trying to squeeze out a little more mpg's on my 98 Blazer. I did all the basic tune-up stuff and the only thing left is the O2 sensors.

I tried today to loosen up the drivers side O2 sensor using a sensor socket and it wouldn't budge. Any tips for lossening it up? It's just me climbing under the truck on my drivewayand I don't have a lift. The workspace for a wrench under there istight.

Would ashop be willing to do a job like this if I supply the sensor and all they have to do is the labor? Any idea of the cost to do this? I'm located in south central new jersey.

Thanks.

Try heating the sensor bung with a propane torch or if you aren't comfortable with that, just take it for a drive before you go to work. Wear gloves and you should be ok. They should be easier to remove with the exhaust hot.

geek,

I've got a 98 blazer and it has three sensors; one on each side of the y pipe (as you mentioned) and one between the cat and muffler. I paid $53 plus shipping at getgmparts.com.

As I said earlier in this thread, there is absolutely no reason to change the post-cat sensor unless you have a code specifically stating that there is a problem with it. You will not regain mileage or performance by swapping the rear most sensor.
