Lets see:
Japanese cars from my experience (various brands '95-'02)
The new car smell is the smell of rubber.
They never have any less power because the engine leaves the plant "broken" with far less torque when it is new than a Chevy from a junkyard.
They rust to nothing in no time.
They don't make anything bigger than a 1/4 ton.
Everything is vacuum powered, so after 5 years they start going down hill, then after 10 years, the only thing that works is the radio.
The transmissions burn up in no time.
The ride is rough.
The companies want you to buy a new car instead of repair it when something major fails.
They cut corners everywhere, even if it means less safety.
Pound foot for pound foot they have far worse gas mileage.
They pollute much more.

I hope you enjoy your rusty new Tacoma with the slippin' tranny and best of luck to you. Don't worry, if I see you walking I'll give ya a ride.

Regards,

Thomas

First off it sounds like your talking about my blaze there

This truck is just pushing me over the edge...

Parts replaced in trucks lifetime:
- 1 4.3l vortec
- 700R rebuild and 2nd gear replacement
- 1 spider injector assembly
- 2 pcm control units
- 1 front diff
- 3 cv axles
- pair of torsion bars
- windshield once and the current one is cracked again, there is something about the blazer windshield that makes it get sandblasted and cracked more than normal
- rear hatch as been repaired 2 times due to getting stuck
- power mirrors never have powered, no blown fuses or anything, im thinking bad switches
- brakes like no tomorrow

Its small and gets **** mileage my 97 ford expedition gets 20 on the highway...my s10 blazer got 22 once on the highway before it destroyed new injectors.

the 4.3 is the only engine with freaking injectors running though the intake runners.

Now my 89' blaze was decent, but IMO chevys been going downhill. 300,000 only general maintenance, sold it for $500 and as far as I know its still running.

The 97 expedition is the same story at 230,000 miles

You know, I hear a lot about that kind of stuff on this forum, some of that I definitely see, like the windshield is just at that right angle to get etched, power mirrors die and lots of brakes but... why the he*l would you put a 700R4 in a Blazer? The 4L60E is a million lightyears better.

Exactly what do people do to these things? I haven't ever had problems from mine. However, I never tow anything, or go off road. But I do get on the highway wide open every time. I have no idea why a PCM would go bad, but the other day I saw somebody buying a 2000 something PCM for a Blazer. Maybe they got bad after 2000, but I have even heard people complain about their 90's. I'd like to start a poll about this.

Regards,

Thomas
