That or I would get a remote detector where I could put the eye wherever I please. (front bumper, license plate, roof, etc) and just have the reader/control unit up there....

Why not just get this to start with you dont want to tear up the truck just to put the radar in right. Or is it you just dont like the thing. I think the more you could hide that thing the better that little devise can cost you big$$$ trust me bro!

That's right, with todays radars it only goes off after you have already been clocked anyway.

You would be better off getting a CB radio and tune to channel 19, those truckers will let you know where they are hiding, plus it's legal in Va also.

so true, they're only a good warning if you're following a few quick moving vehicles then you have time to react...

don't even bother with anything that "jams", "blocks", or "scrambles" the radar signal, they're useless

Untrue.... bought a CHEAP one from Carolina a couple years ago and it worked flawlessly! It would go off a mile-mile 1/2 EVERY MORNING on the way to work before the cop was even in sight. I would turn down the beeper, slow down and cruise by the cop with the red light on the detector glowing like hell..... Saved my *** MORE than once.

i agree.. i use to have to drive down 31 to Indianapolis almost weekly when my son had his heart surgery... ive never seen so many cops on 1 stretch of road...and my radar detector would go off well before the cop or myself could see each other countless times was the guy next to me pulled over.. but i never was...

it's probably easier to fab one as they're $80 and they only fit 2 brands of detectors... valentine and escort
