Go to the auto store and buy epoxy specifically made for re-glueing your mirror to the windshield. The directions says to use one drop of epoxy, but I use 2 and have had no problems.

Thanks I was going there today and ask, but it’s always nice to ask someone who has actually done that already.

Can you glue the mirror back on if you cannot get the mount separated from the mirror?

No, the mirror will be too heavy if you try and glue the mount onto the windshield with the mirror still attached. Get a pair of pliers and pull the mount free of the mirror. File down the mount a little (but not too much or the mirror will vibrate-don't ask how I know) and attach it to the windshield. After the glue dries, install the mirror into the filed down mount. The mirror should now install easily. If the instructions tells you to use one drop of glue, go ahead and use 2, (there's plenty of space available for 2 seperate drops) if you don't the mirror will eventually drop off again.
