Speedometer jumping
I have tranny issue's, I am dealing with a TCC issue. The TCC was reamed and bored out about 3 years ago. I still had problems afterwards so I parked the vehicle for a couple years and did not drive it, I could not afford to have the trany rebuilt until now. I am leaning towards just putting in a used one.
Anyway to the question, my speedometer is jumping erractically, I read in my haynes manual that the TCC and the VSS are closely tied together somehow, both relying on each other. I am wondering if I am dealing with a VSS issue or a continuing TCC issue?
When I got my Blazer going again I discovered that the radiator was plugged with Dexcool cr&p and the tranny fluid was not cooling down enough and was overheating. So I took care of that issue, and then I flushed out the tranny fluid and the tranny worked fine for 3 months until now. I guess a VSS is only $20 at Autozone so It may not hurt to try it.

The TCC is in no way tied to the VSS except for possibly a ground or power source that is in common.
The VSS reads the output shaft speed on the back of the transmission (or transfer case if 4wd) by way of a toothed reluctor ring. Pull the VSS and clean it before you drop the coin on a replacement. It is quite easy.
