Well battery was tested and was 100% starter was no good put in new starter and cleaned all ground wires still would not start unless jumper cables were on. The only question is what should my idle be at cuz its only about 5 or 6 hundred so could that cause it if the idles too low. I dont know what else to do except have the fuel pump tested even though it doesnt seem likely but the symptoms are similar to when it was bad and i just replaced it about 2 months ago

Big clue right there, poor connection. Either the positive cable from the battery to the starter, (Depending on the year, there might be a poor connection at the MAXI 175 amp fuse) Or the negative cable from the battery to engine ground. Could be excess corrosion, (green fuzz) at a terminal, connection, or in the cable insulation.

Edit: What year is the vehicle?

all connections have been cleaned and tightend but the vehicles turns over fast as heck but will not start untill I add more juice from jumpers or booster box then it will start on like the second or third try other than that it just wont start even though it acts like it wants to.Captain what do you think about me dumping a little gas in the throttle body in the morning and see if it fires right up like it used to when the fuel pump was shot and if it does is there a chance the fuel pump could be causing this mess.

If it's turning over as fast as you say it is, (normal cranking speed) connecting another battery shouldn't make any difference wether it starts or not, unless, there's a poor connection somewhere. What year is this vehicle?

Check this out, if there's a problem with a connection, this will find it: Voltage Drop Testing

Edit: BTW, no MAXI fuse on 1996.

Might want to print it out and have it handy while testing. Keep us posted.

I was having a hard time starting my 2001 for months. Long story short - it was the Mass Air Flow sensor located between the Air intake and the carb. I got for $50 from AM parts. The sensor was telling the computer crap. There is another one on drivers side down low. there are two clip fasteners and its the bottom one.

well voltage drop test came back good. The mass air sensor is also new. I just put a cap full of gas in the throttle body and it started instantly. So now Im thinking I need to check the psi readings at the fuel filter to rule out any possibilities of my 2 monthe old fuel is bad.
Does that sound like the correct thing to do?
