If it starts when you add fuel, that's good indication of low fuel pressure! Check it while the pump is running at the filter outlet. All pressure and flow must end at the tester. Post the readings.

If the starter doesn't engage immediately, there's an electrical problem too.

Don't forget about the sensor left side of engine, down toward the bottom. Mine was disconnected or broke. Stuck it together and dripped some gorilla glue on it. If you can't hear the fuel pump start, it could be the problem. A test on the pressure would be next test on fuel line. There is a check valve in the spider injector. Presure should jump to 50psi.

Sensor, left side down low? Crankshaft position sensor is right side down low. If that's the one you're referring to, it has no affect on fuel pressure or the pump. No check valve in the spider, there is one in the fuel pump though. With 50psi, it may or may not start even by adding fuel manually in the throttle body. Regulated pressure needs to be 60psi to 66psi. At the pump, it needs to be 73psi to 108psi.

Ok I finally got the pressure readings again off my fuel filter now bear with me this is a lil confusing to me but here it is. First time i turned the key it was 20 psi second time was 35 psi and the third, fourth and fifth was 50psi. Then I hooked up a set of jumper cables to it and the first time with that it was 68psi then the 2nd and 3rd time was 70psi so do you think its the pump bad again or maybe a bad or loose wire going to the pump that I had to crimp together when I installed the new pump before. It was a delphi pump btw.

On 1996 and newer, maximum fuel pump output pressure needs to be 73psi to 108psi. Your highest reading of 70psi is too low. Stands to reason that the pressure would be higher with a jumper battery connected due to available amperage being higher. However, it's possible that your fuel pump circuit has high resistance, which will cause lower output. Could be in the grey wire, (feed from the fuel pump relay), or in the black ground wire. The first thing to do is solder the connections that you made before. Crimp connectors, to be quite honest, have no place on a vehicle, for this very reason. Use 60/40 Lead/Tin rosin core solder only. Use heat shrink tubing to insulate the connections.

Ok I just found my solder and all so I will be doing the work on it this wknd and will post results of pressure test when completed. Thanks again

well got the wiring done right but my question now is before i hook it up I put a tester on the purple wire which im assuming is the hot wire on the 4 wire plug on pump and it only registered 7.7 volts and i found power on the other 3 wire plug on the white wire and it registered 4.9 volts are these numbers where they should be or am i not getting enough power to the pump to even run it

All of these tests are done with the connector unplugged from the fuel pump module.

When you turn the ignition to the run position, the grey wire should show battery voltage for 2 seconds, then drop to zero.

With the ignition in the run position, the purple wire should show ~5 volts.

Both black wires should show less than 5 ohms resistance to ground at all times.

did the tests again when key is turned on grey wire reads 11.3 and purple is reading 7.7
and the 2 black wires are reading -11.4
