Default trans service or not

My blazer has 189k and I don't know anything about the service history. The trans fluid looks good but I was thinking about changing the fluid and filter. Is it safe to do so with this many miles or should I leave it alone. Ive heard changing the fluid can do more harm with high mileage..

Just do a pan service. NOT a flush. it only removes 5-6 quarts, and replaces the filter.
