hook on to it with another vehicle and pull it out while you are in neutral with your foot on the brake

Patience...and a LOT of PB Blaster.

Spray it down, let it set for a day, spray, set, spray, set, etc. Do this for a week or so, then break out the BFH.

Are you positive that part of the hitch pin is not still in there?

x2 on double checking it is in fact un-pinned and ready to be pulled free.

then x2 on the PB blaster. soak that pig from every angle
hammer it in, hammer it down, hammer it out, put a jack under the tip and lift it up a bit.
then pb it again and got to town with the sledge. you could try the "chain it to the old oak tree" method, but i would just beat and blast. it will come out eventually

I agree on checking the pin. Some pins are dual sized and use a sleeve to make it bigger. You might have removed the smaller section and the sleeve is still in there.

my ball hitch has been on the blazer for about 10 years. i hate to think what I will have to go through!! I remember Christmas shopping one day and thinking I should remove it for the winter. Same day I was rear ended (@1-2 mph), and did not suffer any damage. That was the last time i thought about removing it.
