what happened to my electricity
I am working on my son's 2000 2 door Blazer. Put in a new gas tank and fuel pump. Hooked up the battery and switched the key on 3 separate times as recommended to prime the fuel lines. I could hear the pump running properly. The truck has not been cranked in about 5 years but everything seemed fine as I then turned the key to attempt to start it. The only click I heard was at the switch as it moved to the start position. Did not hear the solenoid and the starter did not turn over. All at once there was no electricity anywhere. I checked the fuses which I thought might be the culprit but all were okay. Could a poor connection at the starter have caused something to blow? Where to look from here? Could the ECU have sensed something and shut it all down? Is there a master fuse that could have blown [couldn't find such an animal in the owner's manual]? Thanks in advance.
When turning to the start position, there is a large current draw on the battery. Is the battery in good condition? Even if it measures 12V between the terminals, it might be able to supply the necessary current if it is very old.
It is possible that you popped the fusible link in the main positive battery cable. I would start with a test light or volt meter at the battery and follow the path of both the +12V lead and the ground to see if you can pin-point the circuit interuption.
