What radiator cap do you have? If its the factory original, you could be not holding pressure once its hot, allowing the coolant to boil off. Or at least most of the water in the coolant mix.

But dont try to convince yourself its not the head gasket just because you dont want to hear it. Get it tested, then try and find a new reason. Theres only so many ways to lose coolant.

 

the radiator cap is the factory one. i just took it to a shop, they said they didn't see any signs of it being a head gasket. they seem to think it's the water pump leaking because there is anti freeze on the front of the block. It had nothing to do with not wanting to hear it, it was just thatwe had checkedfor the signs of a head gasket being bad and we didn't see any of them. the shop also seems to have ruled that out. I have just never lost this much anti freeze and not been able to find it before. Sorry, if it seems like i've been ignoring ideas, i'm just letting everyone know what i've checked and found. thanks, clint

Hopefully, it is from the water pump, but 'on the front of the block' could also be from a leaking intake manifold gasket unless it's all showing from just underneath the pump body.
